FR: Change Password Requirements Display Behavior - Immediately after selecting "Change Password"

As of 1.0.4(604), the current behavior when you select "Change Password" is for the Change Password window to appear. In order to get the password requirements the user has to proactively click the ? button, which I doubt most would do.

I would like the password requirements message to automatically be triggered so the user has to acknowledge this message before they can change their password.

Something like what ADPassMon did.

I know there are other feature requests that include the option to have an image with these types of messages.

Additionally, if the user failed to meet the requirements as established by the PasswordPolicy, would also like this password requirements message to be triggered again.

Are you using the PasswordPolicy as well? That will put the red/green lights next to the fields and may give your users the visual cues they are looking for?

I'm a bit hesitant to put something into the app that would always prompt, although making it optional takes away most of that hesitation.

PasswordPolicy was initially not working for me, but it was because I incorrectly assumed the values for each PasswordPolicy key was an integer, rather than a string.

With the PasswordPolicy applied, the red/green lights are helpful, but it still requires the user to proactively click the question mark button in order to be informed about the password requirements.

What I liked about ADPassMon was that the user could still click the "Change Password" button even if they did not meet the password requirements, as this would then trigger a prompt like the one above. While making the Change Password button not selectable prevents the user from setting their password to something that doesn't meet the policy, it ultimately puts the onus on the user to click the question mark to have the password requirements appear.

Long story short, I'm looking for a way to have this information appear automatically so users don't get stuck if they happen to not click the question mark.

I see that hovering over the red/green lights shows this policy info as well.

Still, I'm thinking about our lowest proficiency users and I don't think either the question mark button or hovering over the lights would be enough for them.

I would preferably like the Change Password button to be selectable even if the entered password does not match the complexity / policy requirements and cause the password policy message to appear, rather than changing the password.

1.0.5(606) adds an automated message dialog about the fact the user's currently entered password does not meet the password policy. This accomplishes part of what I was hoping for - not requiring the user to proactively click any button. However, I would like to offer some suggestions for improvement:

• Build forces user to enter text in the "Verify" field in order to trigger the message. Could it instead be triggered when the verify field is selected?

• When the verify field is selected and the missing complexities message appears, automatically clear the currently entered text in both the new password and verify fields and then make the new password field the currently selected field.

• Build for whatever reason does not cause the red/green light to turn green when it meets the password requirement. As a result, a blank message is generated when typing in the "Verify" field.

• The current message that appears just tells the user about what is missing complexity-wise from their current password. This is helpful, but my original intent was to also provide the user with the full list of requirements, which is currently accomplished with the question mark button in the password change window. Is it possible, then, to add a second button, "Requirements", to the message that's generated by the missing password complexities message in this build to allow the user to review the full list of requirements as is specified by the MessagePasswordChangePolicy preference?

This still requires the user to proactively select the button to get the full password requirements list, but having an explicit "Requirements" button in that message, at least to me, is clearer than having this information only available with the question mark button.
