Feature Request: iMIP regardless of being a user on the server
I brought this up on the davical-general mailing list some time ago, but I think this might be better as a feature.
I work in an environment that's pretty much BYOD. It's academic, and people will get computers via grants, so I wind up with not a lot of say in what kind of devices are purchased.
One issue I'm dealing with right now: Apple Calendar will not send out email invites for an event on a CalDAV calendar, instead it uses the server's scheduling feature. But some of my users are either using CalDAV clients that don't support that feature, or they might technically have an account on the server, but never use it.
I know there's an DAViCal config setting that will make Thunderbird's Lightning extension send emails, I'd really like to have something equivalent for Apple's Calendar. This could either be:
- Some option that enables DAViCal to tell Apple Calendar to send emails, or
- Something that will take events from the user's outbox, and just send emails instead of placing them into user's inboxes.
Email is the one service I know everybody is actively using, so sending invites over email is preferable.
