Highlight apps added/changed since last repo update

After an update, it would be good to have some sort of visual feedback about apps which were added since last update, even it only stays there for a few seconds. I and a couple of other people I've talked to tend to like to keep an eye on new apps that get added each day. My personal workflow is to update apps, show the "What's new" and "Recently Updated" categories, and look at the apps which don't have any icons (because these are the newly added ones). The alternative is to intuitively know what was already there, which will become increasingly difficult as more and more apps get added.

I propose some sort of subtle highlight, which fades away over 5 seconds or so. I don't see a reason to keep it there permanently, nor should it need to be in any category other than the special "What's new" and "Recently updated categories".

I used to do this by hand back when I knew all the apps in the repo (a couple hundred). After a while I opened up an issue to add "what's new" and "recently updated". Your suggestion seems like an appropriate next step.

Although the fading away I'm not sure about. What if I want to check that in different places but cannot do it in five seconds?

Can't think of a better solution that wouldn't get in the way, though.

What about a small light green "new" textbox at one corner of said app/apk list item view? It wouldn't go away for as long as the current index update added said app/apk.

So yeah, I prefer this sort of unintrusive small text at the corner that doesn't fade away. I don't think it would bother anyone.
