Tutorial of using GitLab Pages
Who is this for?
- Newcomer to using git and GitLab.com
- Not familiar with the tools available as part of GitLab Pages
Prior knowledge:
- HTML/CSS/JS: beginner / intermediate
- Publishing websites process: web development, acquiring domain names, hosting.
Objective:
- Wants to put up some simple web pages in lieu of a CMS system
- Needs simple tutorial to get started with GitLab Pages.
Depending on the article's subject:
- Jekyll: installed and running locally
- Jekyll: Markdown, Yaml, Liquid
- DNS Zone management: when customs domains become available
Outline
- Objective: Help user to set up GitLab Pages.
- Describe the processes of building sites using static websites generators (like Jekyll),
- Supported languages and file extensions
- How to upload their content
- How to use the terminal to connect, pull, push, and commit to their repositories.
- Connecting domains (if/when available. Can also be a short follow-up post when the CNAME feature is available)
