Make docs accessible from everywhere
Why can't I search docs from the search field in my dash or project pages?
Why isn't there a context-aware link to documentation on the page/panel I'm currently viewing?
In short: Why is it so hard to get to the docs without jumping outside of GitLab and using a third party search tool or doing direct to the docs.gitlab.com site? That's silly, and frustrating, and should be fixed. Stick a link to the GitLab documentation site in the navigation pane/pin.
I see two possibilities, the second is the most broadly useful, but maybe implement both.
-
A context-aware link to Help/Docs from every panel in the GitLab interface. Possibly in the navigation pane/pin. The idea would be take the user straight to the relevant page in the documentation for the pane the user is currently viewing. Ex: Currently in a project in the pipelines pane; Help link would go straight to the Pipelines page in the docs.

More broadly useful, change the search field in the upper right. Give me a drop-down where I can select to search in different contexts: this project, all projects, or the documentation.
