9.2 demo video

    Instead of a release webcast, we're considering producing a demo video to accompany our releases, if a suitable one is possible based on the new features/updates in that release. It may be that a new feature deserves a demo all to itself, or that an update results in a more complete workflow for a previously released feature.

    See the 9.1 Service Desk demo for an example.

    Possible demos from 9.2:

    • Multiple assignees for issues
    • Pipeline schedules

        @joshlambert I'm asking you as you owned the release post this month but feel free to point me in the right direction!

        1. Do you think either of these would make a good demo to share on the blog?
        2. Is there anything else you'd suggest?
        3. Who would be right person to record this?

        Sure, multiple assignees would be good but probably not sufficient on it's own. Probably makes sense to have a "Discussion" video to include other items such as the elasticsearch improvements, creating a merge request from an issue, etc. Victor would probably be the best person for this one.

        We could also perhaps have a video on our helm chart installation.

        Thanks for the input @joshlambert! For any of these ideas, is it worth waiting for subsequent releases to put together a demo for anything that isn't quite complete yet?

        @rebecca Not to sidetrack this issue, but how about instead of doing a video of just what changed in 9.2 (or a subset), doing a video for entire flows that have been changed up to and including 9.2. As @joshlambert suggests for Discussion, it should showcase the current state of issue management on GitLab. This might be easier for people to understand if they don't have the context from the previous releases, but one of the best benefits is that you could re-use those videos in marketing elsewhere.

        @victorwu would you be up for recording an up-to-date demo of issue management on GitLab, including multiple assignees?

        @rebecca : Do you think it's worth it to wait about 3 to 4 weeks so that we also get https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ee/issues/2001? We can do one now with what we have as well. Let me know what you prefer.

        @victorwu That's a great idea, thanks for suggesting it. I'll close this issue for now and pick this up with you when 9.3 is released.
