Project Avatar not showing up

Summary

A question like this was already asked multiple times, but always for custom installations of GitLab. I use GitLab here on gitlab.com, so I cannot change some server settings.

I uploaded some .png images of about 17 KB to be displayed as my project avatars. After saving they appear for a short moment, but after refreshing the page, the following shows up:

Steps to reproduce

Change the default avatar to a custom image by going to the projects settings page, expanding the general settings, choosing an image and saving the changes.

What is the current bug behavior?

The avatar does not show up.

What is the expected correct behavior?

Using photoshop I modified the above screenshot to display the expected outcome.

To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have an admin enable hashed storage. More information
