Marketo Implementation - Tracking Code on Website
Add Marketo Munchkin tracking code to website pages on every web page we want to track. Place the code
right before the </body>
tag or in the footer include file.
You can copy your Munchkin code from the Admin > Munchkin area in Marketo.

@AshleyS what are the pages we want to track? All pages under about.gitlab.com? Any other domains?
- Author Contributor
All the domains that we own where customers are visiting. The idea is to understand what parts of our website people are visiting from support to docs to the app, everything.
Does that answer the question? @jacobvosmaer

@AshleyS I think that would be about.gitlab.com, doc.gitlab.com and gitlab.com.
I am not sure about embedding Marketo javascript on each gitlab.com page. What do you think @sytses ?
- Owner
@AshleyS I edited your first note so that it's visible. You can edit it to see what I changed.

@rspeicher Thank you!!!!

@jacobvosmaer please do not embed on gitlab.com, we're trying to get rid of third party tracking there for the GNU people.
@AshleyS are you positive you want tracking on doc.gitlab.com?
- Author Contributor
I'd like to be able to see people that are CE customers looking at EE documentation or anyone looking at EE only feature documentation. So if I had to narrow it down, people viewing CE and EE docs and any other potential for-pay features like on http://doc.gitlab.com/ee/
- Owner
@AshleyS I'm OK with that.

@dblessing is the maintainer of doc-gitlab-com; I created doc-gitlab-com#40 (closed) for having Marketo embedded in doc.gitlab.com/ee.

adding it to the website now..

we can add the async jquery one
- Maintainer
added it to the website. Seeing if there is a way to test this.

I sent you a login to Marketo a few days ago. If it is working there will be data in the lead database. @JobV

@job also can you explain the async jquery versus munchkin? Aside from the speed, what are the difference? Does async mean it'll take longer to sync to Marketo via batch?
- Maintainer
@AshleyS it just refers to how the marketo code is loaded. The one I've set up is the fastest. That's all. Other than that, everything is the same.

So it works! The only way to see it is in the website analytics, as all leads are still anonymous: https://app-ab13.marketo.com/#AR1029A1

It works! Thank you. There is an "anonymous lead list" in the leads section if you ever want to monitor that way. https://app-ab13.marketo.com/#SL1080B2 @JobV
