Subject for Jacob and Ernst.
Everyone is free to use the email client they want and I want to stick to email convention where it is useful. But I also want to make it convenient to use email instead of chat.

I think it's kind of unusual to call out two specific people in the handbook like this. And then what if new people join who also don't use Gmail; they add themselves to the list like the team page?
cc @ernstvn since the original mention didn't work.

- d0367e37 - Apple mail also does it correctly.
I agree with @rspeicher about exceptions.
We have something for chat: Slack.
If @sytses bothers to send me an email sitting on a ski lift then I am grateful for his time and I gladly put up with lapses in netiquette. But for day to day work I don't see the need for this guideline.
I agree with @rspeicher and @jacobvosmaer that we should never call out specific individuals for exceptions to general handbook rules.
I think we have spent too much effort on issue comments and MR's for this topic, and suggest we merge !1306 (merged) which removes the guideline altogether, allowing @sytses to also still leave his subject line headers blank if he chooses to. I would prefer that Sytse uses subject lines in his emails to me, but I will survive if he prefers not to for the sake of efficiency in his own workflow.
@ernstvn thanks! let's proceed as you suggest.
