Importing a group/project from Gitorious with two Git repos results in two groups on GitLab.com with the same name, the second being disfunctional

I (xtaran on GitLab.com, abe on Gitorious.org) have just imported all my groups and repos on GitLab with the "Import all projects" (or similar) button.

Beyond others, this imported both, https://gitorious.org/xen-tools/xen-tools and https://gitorious.org/xen-tools/website and seem to have created a xen-tools group for both repos, at least according to https://gitlab.com/profile/groups I'm member of two groups both named xen-tools. https://gitlab.com/u/xtaran also shows four groups, two of them linking to https://gitlab.com/groups/xen-tools .

On the dashboard at https://gitlab.com/ also shows me 4 projects, including

X xen-tools / Xen Tools
W xen-tools / Website

The latter links to https://gitlab.com/xen-tools/website but that gives a 404.

I'd be nice if you could fix this misbehaviour in importing repositories from Gitorious as well as fixing up the broken xen-tools group on GitLab.com.

Ah, sorry, I think I filed the issue under the wrong project. I just saw now that the "issues" link from about.gitlab.com pointed to the gitlab-org issue tracker and not to the gitlab-com one.

@xtaran No, you're in the right place. This is gitlab.com but the group you posted in is gitlab-org and the gitlab-ce project. That's right

Good to see I'm not the only one affected. I have https://gitlab.com/scrapfilbleu/scrapfilbleu working, but https://gitlab.com/scrapfilbleu/python-filatours-api is broken.

I was not able to reproduce this bug yet. But I will look into this tomorrow. I have some idea.

In my case, not just the project page is broken - so is my dashboard when I am logged in: I get an error 500 when I access https://gitlab.com/dashboard/projects.

@marin is this fixed deployed yet?

@sytses No, the fix was only merged yesterday. I hope I will be able to do a release today.

Great, both my dashboard and the project page seem to work now. I moved the project from the group to my user. The very first page load after that move showed an error, "Cannot move project" (or similar). This also happened with the other three projects when I moved them. But I don't really care, things are working fine, as far as I can tell.
