Show issue number/merge request number in the beginning of page title

Prior to version 7.11 I could see issue number in front of the tab and always select correct tab. Now, for some unknown reason, you decided to decrease usability of GitLab by moving issue number into end of the page title, where it's not visible.

Please reconsider moving it back to the front.

Perfect title should be:

• !xxx - title... - for merge requests
• #xxx - title... - for issues
• $xxx - title... - for snippets

@sashk How do you mean "decrease usability"? I don't know issue numbers by heart, but I do recognize issues by their titles. When I see a tab that reads "Show issue num...", that's more useful to me than "#1734 (closed) - Show i...".

I'd have to agree with @DouweM. I get more information from the first few words of the issue than the issue/MR number.

I used to see here useful information in the tabs, now I see nothing.

If for someone it is better not to show issue number - make this option user (or administrator) configurable.

We shouldn't just add an option to every little disagreement about a design choice. See Choices - Joel on Software.

I think the best solution for you would be to look into something like dotjs which will let you customize anything to your heart's content.

I think for most people, the title is more useful than the number.

The situation where your tabs are so narrow that only 3 characters fit, is the exception, not the rule.
