Build status missing from projects after upgrade

We just upgraded to the latest Gitlab yesterday and found that the very useful build status is now missing from all pages.

I'm aware that you could go manually adding it to all your READMEs but that's annoying and doesn't work when a project is hosted in two locations, one without access to the other etc...

Note the build status that used to exist on the right hand side:

While the UI is completely different there is now nowhere to see the build status:

Any update on this? There seems to be a lot of regressions and undocumented missing features with every GitLab release.

@sammcj I heard from @dzaporozhets that this was removed, in order to avoid duplication and to make the project view cleaner. The correct place for a build badge is within the README of a project, so it will not be added to the project page again.

While it's true that the new layout is "cleaner", it's also much less useful to me as a developer. The old view, with the activity stream and build status visible by default, was much more helpful to get a quick overview of the current state of the project. For projects I'm actually working on, I care much more about seeing the latest commits and the current build status than a giant logo and a lot of whitespace.

@jscn You can configure the default project view from Readme to the Activity stream in the preferences.
