I haven't seen this issue? I'm on 8.0.2 - I can see a commit I JUST made in the history....

The latest commit on this particular repository, is shown (8.0.2). I can't seem to replicate this issue, I have also looked at other branches and repos I use. (Picture shown has the correct last commit)

I reproduced this bug again https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ee/commits/master/Gemfile.lock it's not the last commit

The commits that are missing are the merge commits. Here is a screenshot of g log --pretty=short Gemfile.lock on my terminal:

@rspeicher thanks for the reference, as you mentioned in the referenced issue, the --follow option used here is what is causing the problem (missed merge commits in the logs), however I still don't have a clear idea about why.
