Markup of system-notes gets confused (italic/bold)

Description

The markup of system notes gets confused with bold and italic formatting as shown in the screenshot below:

I don't see any special characters in the MR title which result in such a styling.

@razer6 I bet it's because the new title appears to have a trailing space. Exampe: no space - **space **

Maybe we need to strip whitespace at the front and back.

Yes, either strip the value or use HTML <strong> tags instead of Markdown.
