How do we hide files/folders under project?

Hi,

We have requirement that some of files/folders under project are related to config and license stuff. We don't want to see others. We want to hide based on user permissions like SVN hide.

Can we achieve this in Git/GitLab?

I think this could be useful for code separation. I have requirements where a portion of code shouldn't be visible to a DEV, but can be for another.

Instead I have to have two repos. One with all of the code/folders, one with half for restricted devs.
