I observe identical behavior on gitlab.com. While I cannot identify whether my bug is the same as the one of @jasarjasu786, I was able to narrow my problem down to branches containing file deletions.

To reproduce the issue fork https://gitlab.com/anton-akhmerov/test and try to merge branch test on master.

@jasarjasu786 please verify if your problem has the same origin.

I think this is fixed via f16bfa40 and should be fixed in 8.1.0 RC2 soon.
