Help>Search: display Search>Issues like Search>Projects: show links, not full contents!
[note: the following is mostly copied from Issue #152 per request by Drew Blessing]
Being a responsible user, before I post a new issue (like, e.g., Issue #153 or Issue #183) I try to first search for related/duplicate issues. When I last did that (several months ago--apologies if this is stale) I noticed that
-
Search returns results grouped by {Projects, Issues, Merge requests}: good. This facilitates scanning, which is esp important when large numbers of results are returned, since the user is probably interested in very few.
-
items in Search results>Projects are composed of {link to project, project description}. This facilitates scanning, because project descriptions are (approximately) single lines of text.
- items in Search results>Issues are composed of {link to issue, issue text}: bad. This degrades scanning, because the text of an issue is typically quite long (~page of text). It's not too bad when |results| < 10 are returned, but searches can easily return many more issues.
So my feature request is, make Search>Issues display like Search>Projects: show links to issues, not their full contents!
