Disaster Recovery soft launch
Description
A first iteration of Disaster Recovery will ship in 9.0. It won't be ready for prime time, it's a first iteration and before it reaches General Availability, it needs extensive testing from us internally, and from a set of selected customers.
We know some customers are interested in helping us testing DR.
-
- This is what we'll ship in 9.0
-
Much and improved repository backfill mechanism (https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ee/merge_requests/1197) -
Support for replicating LFS objects and attachments (https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ee/merge_requests/1382) -
Support for basic status monitoring for Geo Nodes (see https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ee/merge_requests/1197)
-
- We need to ask our customers to test the following:
-
Setup a secondary node -
Test the backfilling mechanism: are all data properly copied to the secondary nodes once they are setup? (https://gitlab.com/gitlab-com/infrastructure/issues/2774) -
Once it's setup, are git data and attachments (including LFS) replicated as they are added to the primary node? (https://gitlab.com/gitlab-com/infrastructure/issues/2805)
-
-
Identify customers willing to help: sales team, please paste the list of SFDC customers in a comment potentially interested.

About marketing this:
-
If we have documentation for the changes we are introducing in 9.0, we should mention it on the blog post, while being clear that it'll in alpha and to use at your own risk.
