Wiki Page Title + Display

For some reason, it seems that wiki pages can only have a single capital letter in the title, occurring at the start. This is really ugly.

Additionally, the page tree view on the right hand side of the wiki is inconsistent, showing capital letters for pages but not for directory names. These appear different to what is shown on the left hand side of the page. Also, encoded characters like & are not displayed correctly in this list.

Is there some underlying reason that pages are forced into having these ugly titles, and the titles can't be edited?
