        @victorwu what do you think? Perhaps we should put this under the description?

        cc @hazelyang Also, the GitLab.com copy shouldn't say Trial Expired.

        I also think the title is quite clumsy in the copy "Create new issue / merge request efficiently with Description templates."

        Something like "Discover Description Templates in GitLab Enterprise Edition" or for GitLab.com "Updrage your plan to discover Description Templates"

        @mydigitalself @hazelyang : Concept looks great. Just general visual UI comments. No strong opinions.

        • @hazelyang : Do we have some sort of style guide / standard for the banner colors? Right now the background is white, and it doesn't really pop out. At first glance it looks like it's part of the form with

        • Some of the other banners / call-to-actions has images. Is it worth it include an image here? If we have an image, it may pop out more the to user (so the color piece is a non-issue)?

        • @hazelyang : I can think of an alternative design where we have the description template UI, but it is disabled (grey-ed out) and then we have the messaging. I don't think we have that type of UI elsewhere in GitLab. The benefit of that UI is the user can quickly visualize what a "template" would look like. The negative is that you have some disabled UI controls, which I think is bad UI practice? I don't know. These are just some random ideas. Wanted to get your thoughts on it. If we do something like this, it may take more work, and maybe not worth the effort right now.

        @victorwu I think this banner type is the one we can see most often on GitLab.com. But it might be a bit strong and intrusive in this case.

        I think adding an image also has the same issue with the banner above. I would make the banner pop out by adding a subtle background.

        I think they actually look very good as white, certainly, the other examples that have an icon in them make them stand out. Perhaps it's just a case of adding the icon to this one?

        I personally don't like the subtle background, it hurts my eyes, makes the text hard to read and we don't use that anywhere else in the product so it looks out of place.

        @hazelyang @victorwu see above and just wanted to see what the opinion on moving it below the description was, that was it's less in the way of what you're trying to do, but still noticeable.

        @mydigitalself @hazelyang : Sorry for de-railing the conversation/direction. Take my feedback with a grain of salt. The styled background does look weird. I'd vote for including one of those awesome images and keeping the background white.

        Sure, below the description box I think is more natural, so you keep the title and description tightly together.

        @mydigitalself @victorwu I have another idea: After clicking Description templates, a popout with marketing content will appear instead of linking to document.

        • Description box is closer to title.
        • It's less noticeable than a banner, but it's always there and users can explore it in the future when they are curious. --> less intrusive.

        Thanks @hazelyang : This is the same design as with the issue weight promotion idea. The tradeoff is that it pushes marketing less.

        I am fine with either design.

        Question for this design (and the same one in the issue weight issue). Do we want to add a "Do not show this again" option? Unless there's any differing opinions, I have no problem with starting to add more marketing-based UI controls in lower tiers that you can never get rid off. If it's a simple one-liner like here, I think that is fine.

        @mydigitalself : Let's talk about the marketing UI idea in the product meeting. I added it to the agenda. (@sarrahvesselov will be there.) I think we should consider this holistically. We can put this literally everywhere in GitLab. Let's talk about if we should have some standard/policy, or we should consider it case by case.

        Do we currently use this new approach anywhere in the UI @hazelyang? If not, we will need to make sure we get it in front of the team as a new UX paradigm. That way we can document and set policy for where and when it should be used.
