Gitter app title shows as Unknown in Gnome Shell

When opening Gitter in a gnome-shell desktop environment the new window isn't tied to the application icon, and instead shows with a title of "Unknown". Works fine with Unity.
Gitter version: 3.0.3 OS: Have seen with Ubuntu Gnome 16.04, Debian Stretch, and Fedora 23

@MadLittleMods thanks for the quick response! You can install a distro with Gnome Shell installed by default like http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-gnome/releases/15.10/release/ubuntu-gnome-15.10-desktop-amd64.iso in a VM.

@agrare I was asking how you launched each app pictured in your screenshots. One is working "Gitter" and the other has "Unknown" but they appear to be in gnome.

@MadLittleMods Oh okay, I can launch it from the command line, hitting the super/windows key and typing gitter, or going to show applications and scrolling down to gitter. Those will get the Unknown entry.
The only way I get the working Gitter titled app is by adding the gitter app as a favorite, it doesn't actually represent a running instance of the app.

Thanks @bil-elmoussaoui ! Any idea when this will be included in a gitter build? I tried installing
gitter-desktop-v3.1.0and still seeing the issue. -

@agrare @MadLittleMods In order to fix this, thanks to the nwjs team the solution is not that complicated. Just add
StartupWMClass=gitter-desktopand build the package using a newer version of nwjs 1.8.0+ The documentation of the source code might help https://github.com/ghostoy/chromium.src/blob/8246a65dd5e711d1bd5966677061a2b9007db1a6/chrome/browser/shell_integration_linux.cc @mydigitalself any progress on this? Per bil-elmoussaoui's comment it seems like there might be a known fix?
