Home button now navigates to the Search

Was that intended or kinda regression?

This is intended. We move to search on /home and /home/explore which helps new users find where they need to go.

We used to only do this if you didn't previously unload a page within 5 seconds and this should probably be restored so we always preserve user state.

We should rather just get rid of the home option there, it's fairly redundant.

@mydigitalself in your case it is not clear what people should do if they don't want always stay online in some "selected" chat.

Interesting, saw this come up a few times when I worked at Skype a very long time ago and never entirely understood it.

If Gitter isn't open and in focus you don't appear green in the room. So if you just switch tabs or applications - why is there a need to not have something selected?

@mydigitalself Mainly because sometimes I don't have enough time to read all chats and as a consequence of this I don't want accidentally mark some messages as read while switching between tabs in browser (I'm using the web version of gitter, pinned as a first tab in my browser).

Btw Skype solves this by a "move bookmark here" feature.

@Den-dp 👍 Improving the unread horizon is something I want to see improved https://github.com/gitterHQ/gitter/issues/937 where you can place markers which would even mark messages unread again.

Split this conversation out to another issue instead of adding to this one if you don't see another issue that covers this new thing.
