Sending many many $ at once
So I was having a one-to-one-chat with my friend and suddenly realised... If you try to send "$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$" you won't see even one, or maybe just one.

From my IRC client I sent somewhere between 19 and 24 $, but @orliesaurus only received 3. Are you doing refunds?
Well, its either an idiosyncrasy with the markdown parser. Or you've just discovered our secret business plan.
I think the latter option is the most realistic

You're not seeing most of the dollar signs because they're being matched as TeX delimiters. Each group of 4 opens and closes a TeX context without specifying any TeX. Basically equivalent to $${}$$
(a no-op).
TeX sucks my money?

The fact that Gitter supports TeX is awesome! But, there should probably be a way to escape multiple $
. I guess you could always just escape them as code $$$$$$$$
.
