Allow changing project path

When renaming a repository, it would be nice to have an option to rename it's path as well (with announcement to all repository users like it happens when you move repo to another workspace).

It's even more important now, when namespaces available, because now i have lots of repositories with name of group the same as first part of repository name like plugins/plugins_something.git and want to rename them to be plugins/something.git but with announcements for all users interested in that change

+1 Important for me too.

My current workaround is less than ideal since I lose all Gitlab project meta-data (e.g. issues, milestones). But in cases where that's okay I just create a new project, remove original project remote from local clone, add new project gitlab shared repo remote to local clone, and push from local clone to new project gitlab shared repo.

This is definitely needed Is there any updates on this issue? I have a couple of projects which I need to rename including their paths.

After namespacing a few repositories, I'd like to remove the prefix in their repository name

Issue #3931 (closed) is a different approach to have a choosable and non-related project name and path. this would fix this issue as well and would give more flexibility.
