path missing from projects APIv3

I'm a bit confused as to why the path parameter has been removed when creating new projects? How do we select which group to add a new project to?

We removed it because it didn't make sense in the current form (see discussion in #2322 (closed)). It will be brought back in one of the future releases.

So am I right in saying that the code always has to be the same as the project title?

This is a serious problem as all new projects are being created as username/project.git. My entire system is based around no namespaces.... Is there no way to set the path/namespace via the API? Seems a bit naive to release 4.0 without it?

Ok I have got around this by hacking lib/api/projects.rb:

     post do
        attrs = attributes_for_keys [:name,
                                    :description,
                                    :default_branch,
                                    :issues_enabled,
                                    :wall_enabled,
                                    :merge_requests_enabled,
                                    :wiki_enabled,
                                    :namespace_id]
        @project = Project.create_by_user(attrs, current_user)
        if @project.saved?
          present @project, with: Entities::Project
        else
          not_found!
        end
      end

adding namespace_id to the attribute list. Then I just pass 'GLN' as the value of namespace_id when creating a new project. Not pretty but works fine.
