File browser fails to display files beginning with dot

This is probably related to #2544 (closed). I've recently that when I'm trying to access files beginning with a dot, e.g. .gitignore, .gitattributes, nginx pops up an "Authentication Required" box asking for user and password in the browser.

bundle exec rake:check gives all green.

System:

• Gitlab 4.0.0 147dfd16 - stable
• Nginx
• Debian

@jojosch Thanks. But this commit has not been merged into 4-0-stable and since I'm using that branch, I didn't get that change. I'll use the patch for the moment.

Reopening this as this fix is not yet present in 4-0-stable. Can it be merged in 4.1?

It probably won't be fixed for 4.0 with 4.1 just around the corner.
