Updating GitLab Mattermost to v1.1 for GitLab 8.1 release
Opening a ticket for the update of GitLab Mattermost to v1.1 in GitLab omnibus
-
Final Mattermost v1.1 is shipping Friday Oct 16
-
RC1 is available now and
config.json
has a number of config setting updates from v0.7 and those settings would need to be updated with GitLab omnibus -
Depending on the omnibus schedule we'd propose either omnibus team installing a GitLab Mattermost RC early to see if there are any regressions that would need a hotfix prior to release, or wait until Friday (possibly Thursday) for final v1.1 (and Mattermost can cut a bug fix release if there are any issues--hopefully not, of course).
Key updates for GitLab Mattermost in 8.1 include:
- Real-time notifications can now be received by Mattermost via support for incoming webhooks calls.
- A new GitLab Integration Service for Mattermost provides real-time notifications of GitLab issue, merge request and comment updates for selected Mattermost channels, and supports rendering of of GitLab Flavored Markdown received.
- Markdown is now rendered across Mattermost messages, comments and channel headers offering rich formatting for fonts, in-line images, tables and headings.
- Mattermost offers the GitLab 8.0 color themes as one of four pre-set themes (two light, two dark), plus detailed control of 18-different color options within themes, and the ability to import themes from Slack.
- Dozens of GitLab Mattermost teams can now be easily managed and configured through the web-based Mattermost System Console which is now documented in detail with instructions and examples.
