iTerm opens 2 windows when using autolaunch script

On startup, iTerm opens two windows with the same tabs. this causes problems with things like screen sessions (though, that's only a minor annoyance) and port forwards (which is a real problem). I have attached the AutoLaunch.scpt AppleScript I've been using forever to set up my environment.
What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Close iTerm
- Restart iTerm
- Close bogus extra window, close tabs with port forwards, and reconnect to those servers
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
To only see one window with my 10 tabs, but I get two windows with them.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Build 1.0.0.20130122, OS X 10.8.2
Please provide any additional information below.

The problem is that since os 10.7, we restore previously open windows at startup. That means in addition to running the script which opens a window, we also restore the (presumably identical) window that was open before. There are two possible workarounds for this at the moment:
- Always close the window before quitting iTerm2. This is annoying.
- Create an empty window arrangement by closing all windows and choosing window>save window arrangement. Set it as the default arrangement in prefs>arrangements. Then in prefs>general turn on "open default window arrangement". This prevents old windows from being restored.
A better answer would be to make step 2 its own checkbox in prefs.
