Lower background image blending

I'd like to be able to use a smaller value for blending background images than what is currently available.
I love background images, and I love full screen. Before full screen, I would set a very low transparency on my iterm window and let my desktop background image show through. Now I have a cli script that lets me change the bg image of the session at will so I can easily have a variety of backgrounds in full screen mode.
However, a lot of my images are not suitable for reading text over at the lowest blending level. I'd like to be able to set it lower to reduce the contrast of my bg images. I think the lowest setting should hide the bg image completely, which you wouldn't expect people to use, but at least it would cover the whole possible range.
