ITerm hangs when attempted to select text for copying

Print large amount of text into Iterm2 window several times, so the windows is full.
Any attempt to select some text to copy it into clipboard shows rainbow spinning ball and Iterm freezes. It unlocks itself after few minutes but attempt to select text again freezes it immediately.
It happens regularly several timea a dey whenever there is large amount of text in a window.

OSX 10.7.5, 2.4GHz i5, 8GB RAM

Hi. Thanks for quick reply.
Yes quite often there are long lines as I'm using it to grep log files etc.
By very long lines I mean one line from my logs can take up to 10 horizontal lines of full screen iterm.
Page wise as I was saying it may be quite often hundreds of pages. Depending on what I'm grepping forRegards
