Software update issues

When the software update runs, all open terminals block and are unusable until the release notes load. This last update took almost a minute for the release notes to load for me.
Also, when choosing to install the update, there should be another button to dismiss the dialogue, so the user can relaunch at their convenience. Right now there's no way to close the window and I'm always worried that I'll accidentally click the button while in the middle of something important.
