Show pointer functionality moves spaces on second display

I have OS X Mavericks with the default display behavior (separate spaces for each display), and spaces setup with the "when switching to an application, switch to a Space with open windows for the application" option disabled.
My setup is iterm 2 windows open in both displays, but in the external display I am in a space with iterm 2 and on the laptop display I am in a space with Chrome. Both iterm and chrome are set to "stick" to their given space via the "assign to" from right-clicking the icon in the Dock.
When I press CMD-/ (I don't know what this actually called; I couldn't find it in the menubar items), the laptop display jumps to iterm 2.
This is version Build 1.0.0.20140113-nightly. By the way, I just noticed that it does the same thing when I chose the about screen to get the version. I chose it from the external display menubar, but it opened in the main display and switched spaces. I wouldn't expect this sort of space switching behavior with that open unchecked in the mission control settings. But it's mainly the show cursor thing that bugs me because it can be hard to find the cursor on the big display, but messing up my other display is annoying.
