Stepping back in time makes the window smaller

If I have a terminal full screen, and I step back in time, it makes the window smaller, because of the time thing at the bottom. This is not a huge issue in itself: I can scroll up to see the top of the screen. But when I close the time box, the window stays smaller. It would be nice if it remembered that it shrunk the window and made it bigger again (ideally without ever actually resizing the tty).

I've modified the instant replay control to live in a floating window. It always was annoying to use IR in a fullscreen window; at least now it can be moved out of the way.

There seems to be a little bug, where brand new fullscreen terminals get cut in half.

Cut in half when? When you enter instant replay? How did you create the window-by taking a normal window and fullscreening it or by using a profile whose window style is fullscreen?

Possibly also related: when I close the timeline window, the terminal shrinks down to the actual column and line width and height. The number of columns is the same (verified with echo $COLUMNS $LINES) but I guess when you click the green button to go full screen it expands a little bit beyond that to fill the whole screen.

I can see why it would lose a few pixels (assume that's what you mean in comment 4) when instant replay ends; that should be easy enough to fix. I'm more worried about the window getting cut in half issue. Can you send a debug log of that?

Seems to only happen for a window that was created from reopening iterm resuming a previous session.

I can't tell from the log what might have happened to cause the resize. Can you try this build:
http://iterm2.com/adhocbuilds/iTerm2-1_0_0_20140329_160648-adhoc.zip

It will start the debug log automatically to capture what happens during startup, so all you need to do is repro the cut-in-half issue and toggle logging off (and attach the log here). Thanks.
