Hotkey window appears in wrong place if attached to a window edge that a new display is connected at

What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Have a non-active hotkey window with setting eg: "Full width top of screen"
- Set up a second display above the primary display
- Hotplug the second display with iTerm not active
What is the expected output?
Hotkey continues to appear/disappear from the top of the primary display
What do you see instead?
Hotkey window appears regardless of activation state somewhere in the middle of the second display, and animates in/out partially across the second display.
What version of iTerm2 are you using?
Build 2.9.20141127-nightly
What OS version are you using?
10.9.5
Please provide any additional information below.
If the hotkey window is active when the display is hotplugged (attached), it remains where it is, and disappears and behaves as expected when triggered via hotkey.

I'm also having the exact same issue. OS X 10.9.5, latest nightly as of today. Attached is my monitor setup and the relevant iTerm2 settings.
The OP's "additional info" is also what I use right now as a workaround -- make sure the hotkey window is open before plugging in the monitor.

This is the closest I found to my issue, I think it makes sense to extend this one than creating a new one.
While the strange animation is not ideal, the real issue for me here is that the terminal's width is not that of the monitor it will be displayed on effectively, but of the top monitor (as in this example).
So I cannot see the left and right 15% of the terminal, because my external monitor is much bigger than the retina screen of my macbook. Reassigned to @gnachman
