Lots of xterm title bar updates can overwhelm iTerm2 and cause unresponsive UI

What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Run a program that updates the xterm title very frequently, such as "multitail" on a dozen or more fast-moving files.
- Try to interact with the session in the presence of many updates to the xterm title
- Or even close the program — the queued-up title updates will persist even after killing the program.
What is the expected output?
A faster-updating xterm title that does not interferer with user interaction.
What do you see instead?
The terminal because unusable under the pressure of very many updates, and is usable but significantly slower to update when lots of xterm title updates are occurring.
What version of iTerm2 are you using?
Build 2.0
What OS version are you using?
10.10.3
Please provide any additional information below.
This seems to have changed in the last month or so, though I am not sure whether it is because of upgrading Mac OS X or iTerm2.
