Reset scrollback on keypress

When you are scrolling back in the console, and a new output arrives, the terminal jumps back to the bottom. I would like to disable this behaviour and only jump back to the bottom and resume seeing the terminal output after I hit a key on the keyboard.

Is there a way to disable "Reset scrollback on display activity" but enable "Reset scrollback on keypress"?

New output does not cause the window to scroll down. A handful of things besides keyboard input will cause it to move to the bottom, but they're pretty rare. A debug log would help https://gitlab.com/gnachman/iterm2/wikis/DebugLogging
