Unable to show emoji symbols properly

Terminal shows a hammer-like emoji instead of the question mark symbol.

LANG and my profile's encoding are set to UTF-8.

Any idea what's wrong? Thank you.

Can you send me the source log file too? I think I see a bug in our UTF-8 parsing but it also affects what's in the debug log. Just one of the lines with the question marks is all I need.

What's producing that output? The bytes being sent to iTerm2 are different than what's in the file, so maybe something is munging it on the way to us?
