iterm2 v3 BEL trigger doesn't work

it was working till upgraded to latest beta from stable. its Regex is "\a" to catch bells from terminal. notification/visual bell/etc is working but not the trigger

Hello, Has this fix made it into a stable release yet? I'm on 3.0.7 and it still doesn't work for me. Given the following trigger, are you guys able to make your Mac say "foo" when you execute echo -e '\afoo\a'? It used to work but stopped working when I upgraded from v2 to 3.0.4 and hasn't worked since.

If the regex gets mangled in translation, I meant:
carrot, backslash, the letter 'a', dot, plus sign, backslash, the letter 'a', dollar sign
so that it would speak aloud a line of text if the line began and ended with a BEL

Yes, but it's a weird special case—it only matches a single bell. The regex must be exactly \a.

Thank you for getting back to me. Even if the setting below worked with just echo -e '\a' (which it doesn't for me by the way), since the v3 trigger code isn't able to detect a regex with more than one BEL I think I should open a new bug, right?

The bell support in triggers is super hacky. Looks like instant needs to be checked, as well.

Please file a new issue for proper bell support in triggers. For it to work, I'll need to record the number of bells that occur at the cell the cursor is on at the time the bell rings, and update -stringLineAsStringAtAbsoluteLineNumber:startPtr: to optionally include bells in the returned string. Counting bells will use up some precious bits in screen_char_t. There are six left before it grows, so I'll have to think about how many to use and if there are other features with higher priority.

For the record, after I ticked the "Instant" checkbox I was able to get the single bell regex to work.

Thank you. Let me know if I can help in any way. It was mighty useful in v2 being able to have actions triggered when the bell was rung but not every time a single bell was rung :)
