New tmux tab does not open in home directory

iTerm: Build 2.9.20150826-nightly OSX: 10.10.5 (14F27)

I have exactly the opposite of Issue #3689 (closed). Using tmux integration and a remote tmux server. My iTerm prefs have "Working Directory: Home directory" selected in every one of my profiles, but when I open a new tmux tab the working directory is set to the same directory as the tab I had been in. For example, if my current focus is a tmux tab and I hit cmd-T to open a new tmux tab, the new tab inherits the working directory from the existing tab rather than being set to my home directory.

@Narbat Check how you have tmux setup. We don't try to manage the initial directory for tmux tabs.

I'm having the opposite problem, I was hoping it would open in the current directory, but instead goes to the home directory every time. @gnachman is there a tmux setting for this? My original .tmux.conf used custom new-window bindings, but those don't seem applicable.

I should add that if I use tmux split-window it works, but if I hit cmd-d, it does not.

Just noticed #3689 (closed) and will follow that.
