iTerm window keeps moving down till it goes off screen

Can't send debug log, since the bug involves quitting/restarting iTerm which disables debugging.

When assigning iTerm to a specific desktop (right clicking on the icon and choosing Options > Assign To > Desktop on Display 2), quitting and restarting iTerm causes it to keep moving down on the screen. See attached video.ScreenFlow.mp4

I tried to reproduce this but could not, so it may depend on some kind of system setting.

Here's how to make a debug log:

1. Go to Prefs > Advanced
2. Turn Start debug logging automatically when iTerm2 is launched. You can use the search feature to find this setting.
3. Quit and restart iTerm2. This will write a log file to /tmp/debuglog.
4. Quit iTerm2.
5. In Terminal or Finder, rename /tmp/debuglog to /tmp/debuglog.1
6. Restart iTerm2, verifying that the window moved down
7. Quit iTerm2
8. In Terminal or Finder, rename /tmp/debuglog to /tmp/debuglog.2

Attach both /tmp/debuglog.1 and /tmp/debuglog.2 to this issue.

Unfortunately, enabling "start debug logging.." did not create /tmp/debuglog the next time I launched iTerm 2.

@ffxsam Oh, you need to turn off debug logging (iTerm2 > Toggle Debug Logging) to write the file out before you quit.

It looks like the app's windows are not getting restored, so a new window is being created at startup time. I suspect you have System Prefs > General > Close windows when quitting an app turned on. You should either turn that off or create a window arrangement and ask iTerm2 to restore it at startup (in Prefs>General change the dropdown under Startup to Restore Default Window Arrangement after doing Window > Save Window Arrangement.

I don't think this is a system level thing. Other apps are not having the same problem (Chrome, Firefox, Atom, WebStorm, the list goes on).

I did save a default window arrangement and that works. Though I think something in El Capitan broke iTerm, because previous to El Capitan the window always came up in the same spot.
