Sluggish cursor
There is issue #586 (closed) about slow cursor imported from Google Groups and closed as fixed. I'm using latest build 2.9.20160313 and also have that problem.
Any cursor movement is sluggish, as if there is some delay between keypress and render. And there is no such problem with default Terminal, it works very smooth.

- OS X 10.11.4
- iTerm2 Build 2.9.20160313 (no blur, no transparency, no image background)

The worst delay between keydown and draw is 0.04 seconds, which is not perceptible. The stutter where we alternate between almost-0 and 4ms Δt is unattractive.
This pull request: https://github.com/gnachman/iTerm2/pull/278 experimented with changing the update cadence to 60hz, but some people reported a 10x performance hit when printing a large file, so it was reverted.
I suspect it would address your issue. Please try this build: http://iterm2.com/downloads/nightly/iTerm2-2_9_20160417-nightly.zip which has a 60hz cadence and let me know if the problem is present.
The solution is a variable 30/60 cadence. The hard part is figuring out which to use.
