Tab label doesn't disappear

Required information for bugs:

• iTerm2 Build 2.1.4
• OS X 10.11.5 (15F34)
• Attachcom.googlecode.iterm2.plist
• debuglog.txt

Actions:

• Open iTerm2
• Open new tab (cmd+T)
• Move mouse on tab title (don't move the mouse until the label is not yet displayed)
• Hide iTerm2 with system-wide hotkey
• Result: the label does not disappear

Some examples:

• settings hide iTerm2

• open tabs without bug

• full screen with bug

• move iTerm2 window with bug

• move other windows with bug

I was able to reproduce something similar on 2.1.4 (the tooltip was only visible when iTerm2 was active, but it was stuck) but not in the beta version. Can you try the latest beta of iTerm2?

Hello, George! I have installed betta version of iTerm2 (Build 2.9.20160523). And I have found a similar bug.

I have a possible fix I'd like to include in 3.0.1. Can you test this build please?

If it doesn't work, please give me very specific steps to reproduce the issue.

It doesn't work:

Steps:

• Open new tab
• Move mouse on tab title (don't move the mouse until the label is not yet displayed)
• Then hide iTerm2 with system-wide hotkey (my case: "cmd+§") and move mouse (at the same time!)

That's a bug in Mac OS for sure. I can repro now. The key is to wait until the tooltip starts fading out before hiding the app. I filed a radar on this issue. https://openradar.appspot.com/radar?id=4950187877335040. I'm attaching a small repro case here in case I ever need it again.

A fix will be present in version 3.0.1. It's off by default since it's doing undocumented things, but you can enable it in Prefs > Advanced > Hide stuck tooltips. You can download an advance copy of version 3.0.1 here: http://iterm2.com/adhocbuilds/iTerm2-2_9_20160530_164948-adhoc.zip
