Ligatures spacing is incorrect on macOS Sierra Beta in tmux

I am not sure if this is an iTerm issue or a tmux issue.
Certain ligatures (such as // and ++) have incorrect spacing on macOS Sierra 10.12 Beta 2 but only under tmux. The same ligatures do not seem to have this problem outside of tmux. This bug does not reproduce on 10.11.
