Font and colors are rendered differently in iTerm and Terminal
Fonts and colors are rendered differently in iTerm (3.0.12) than in Terminal (2.6.1).
In the attached picture you can see iTerm to the left and Terminal to the right. Both terminal emulators use default settings except the font (both use Source Code Pro Medium 12pt) and setting iTerm ANSI colors to the same values as in Terminal.
You can see that the font, especially the bold one, is rendered much thicker in iTerm than in Terminal. In addition, some of the colors are a bit darker.
Expected behavior: Text rendering looks the same in both editors if font and colors are set to the same values
Activity
Possibly Core Text vs Quartz could explain the difference in weight. This might be an issue for fastpath rendering in 3.1. I would guess the color difference is because we use the device color space and they use SRGB. For 3.2 I'd like to drop support for older OSes that don't support SRGB so it'll be possible to fix that issue then.
