iterm2 Latency

https://danluu.com/term-latency/ does a comparison of latencies in various terminals on MacOS. iterm2 does fairly poorly compared to other terminals. Are there easy ways to improve? Is this something that should be measured better?

He didn't say which version he tested, but I would guess 3.0.x. 3.1.beta.6 is quite a bit better in this regard.

For the time being my focus is on improving drawing performance which will provide immediate wins for latency.

@gnachman for a comparison, check out Kitty (https://github.com/kovidgoyal/kitty). Its faster performance/lower latency compared to iTerm2 is night and day. It also doesn't noticeably slow down on my 5K monitor in full-screen mode like iTerm2 does.

GL terminals are really impressive. I don't know where I'd find the time to do it but this is probably the most impactful change that could be made to iTerm2.
