iTerm 3 Feature Request - Toggle Tabs Theme Programmatically?

Is it possible to change the iTerm tab theme programmatically?

Several apps nowadays feature a similar dark mode and a few even trigger that dark mode based on the light/dark setting of the OS (take a look at Paw for example--they even wrote a recent blog post re: theming).

Even if iTerm can't do that, I'm wondering if that setting is accessible through AppleScript. I've searched the documentation and the AppleScript dictionary and couldn't find it anywhere.

Thanks again for making such a great product. It's part of the reason I've switched out to using iTerm (+ vim) as my full-time IDE.

I think it really should use the OS's setting. I would assume that's already scriptable.

Yea, the OS dark-mode preference setting is accessible through AppleScript and command line.

I currently use it within in an Alfred workflow to change my Alfred theme from light to dark.

Cool that it might make into the next version of iTerm.

I would be happy even with a simple hotkey to change between light and dark. Along with changing the theme (light at daytime, dark at night) I would also like to change the color scheme of my session. Could the sessions have different color schemes depending on dark or light mode ?

Quite reasonable. I'll have a look at this once I get out from under the pile of bugs I have to deal with.
