Executing GitLab production Redis error

I've followed all of the instructions on the installation document, going as far as simply copying and pasting each command. I've chosen to use the MySQL database setup for my installation of GitLab however when I go to run sudo -u gitlab bundle exec rake gitlab:app:status RAILS_ENV=production I always get this error

rake aborted!
Connection refused - Unable to connect to Redis on localhost:6379

I've configured config/resque.yml to look like:

development: localhost:6379
test: localhost:6379
production: localhost:6379

And yet nothing. I've even started the redis-server and yet nothing.

Ah, the instructions I followed here didn't mention anything about having to copy and configure config/database.yml like these do. I'm all connected!
