Gitolite error "FATAL: fingerprinting failed"

I am trying to install it on ubuntu 12.04 server as per the instructions given. But when I try to execute sudo -u git -H sh -c "PATH=/home/git/bin:$PATH; gitolite setup -pk /home/git/gitlab.pub" I am getting below output :

line 1 too long: no-port-forwarding,no-agent-forwarding,n... FATAL: fingerprinting failed for '/tmp/271cuxa0ZP'

One of the previous instruction to set path sometimes adds echo -e to .profile file sudo -u git sh -c 'echo -e "PATH=\$PATH:/home/git/bin\nexport PATH" >> /home/git/.profile'

Check with

   cd /home/git
   sudo -H -u git vim .profile

ensure that it got just following and no echo stuff before PATH

  PATH=$PATH:/home/git/bin
  export PATH

@sriharshav doesn't work for me unfortunately:

$ cat .profile  
PATH=$PATH:/home/git/bin
export PATH

But

$ ssh-keygen -lf /tmp/IClQS7MzbA
line 1 too long: command="/home/git/gitolite/src/gitolite...
/tmp/IClQS7MzbA is not a public key file.
