API Branches & Tag Names with Period
Created by: silverbp
Summary
It appears that you cannot specify a branch or tag name in api calls with a period. It ends up logging an ActionController::RoutingError (No route matches [PUT] "/api/v3/projects/34/repository/branches/testing-2.0/protect") error in the logs and you get back a 404. Although I haven't tried all api methods that take a branch or tag, my assumption based on what I've done is it probably applies to all.
Steps to Reproduce
- Create a branch with a period in it.
- Call an api method that expects the branch name in it as a parameter. Example: /api/v3/projects/34/repository/branches/testing-2.0/protect
Expected Behavior
return 200 and protect the branch given the scenario above.
Observed Behavior
It returns a 404 and logs an error that it can't match the url to a route. ActionController::RoutingError (No route matches [PUT] "/api/v3/projects/34/repository/branches/testing-2.0/protect").
