Pagination window too large

When logging in to a repo for the first time it took about 10 seconds before any history was visible. I was using mobile 3G. I suggest reducing the amount of initial downloaded history by a factor of 2.

Is there a way to merge issues in Gitlab? This is similar to another issue.
